China through the eyes of masterfilmmaker Jia Zhang-ke (Still Life, A Touch of Sin).
Qiaoqiao and Bin, deeply in love, enjoy city life together through singing and dancing. Their happiness is cut short when Bin suddenly and secretly departs to seek opportunities in a bigger city. Years later, Qiaoqiao sets out to find him.
An enduring but fragile love story shared by Qiao Qiao and Guao Bin, set in China, from the early 2000s to the present day. By using material from his earlier films spanning across more than twenty years, filmmaker Jia Zhang-ke gives us a new perspective on a country that has experienced a deep transformation: his homeland China.
