Documentary about the iconic artist Peaches, featuring a bonus program and drag show in collaboration with Patronaat.
This documentary celebrates the career of an iconic musician. With riveting music and lyrics, cool haircuts and bodysuits made out of pubic hair, Peaches entered the musical arena as a provoking and incomparable feminist electro clash artist. It soon became apparent that she was much more than her music alone. Peaches helped kick open doors, paving the way for women in music to talk about sex, identity, anger and their own identities, without compromise.
Two decades later Peaches is preparing for the 20th anniversary tour of her groundbreaking album Teaches of Peaches. The film combines footage of this tour with exclusive private material en revealing interview with Peaches' employees, admirers and loved ones. Winner of the Teddy Award for Best Documentary at the 2024 Berlinale.
Special screening, 11 December
Come to Schuur on Wednesday 11 December for a special movie night celebrating Peaches and her enduring influence. Together with Patronaat we will host a screening of Teaches of Peaches, featuring an introduction and an aftertalk with drag performer Lucian Squid. And then some more...
About Lucian Squid
Whatever the stage, Lucian Squid storms it with raw energy and unconventional aesthetic. Using their body, voice and music, they paint pictures with their movements and words that keep shifting fast in a feverish narrative. Their 'drag noir' work is based on real life experiences in which their sexuality and identity clash hard with reality. Lucian allows their sexual energy to ravage and take over, to open doors and explore.
